Best Enemies Forever!!
When I hear the word friend my mind automatically thinks of Cumbia. Cumbia has long darkish blackish hair with tons of freckles on her noise. We both love the Percy Jackson series and have a great time reading them over and over again. Cumbia and I have had TONS of memories together but my favorite memory by far was how we became best friends. We’ve been friends since preschool. But we didn't start out as friends. Actually we really disliked each other at first.
It all started out with a square. Kathleen (preschool teacher) asked everyone to make a square. Cumbia and I were sitting at the little blue round table when all of a sudden she starts yelling at me, and accusing me of cheating. I had no idea what she was talking about. I kept telling her I wasn’t when Kathleen came over to see what was wrong. Cumbia told her I cheated when I drew my square because I decided to trace the outside of the paper to make a perfect square. So maybe I was cheating but in my mind I was just being clever. I looked at her square which was completely lopsided. I started laughing and telling her she didn't know how to draw a square. Kathleen finally convinced Cumbia that I didn’t cheat but told me I should try again without tracing.
From that day on Cumbia would always give me little glares with her beautiful hazel eyes. She would sit by me every day to make sure I didn't cheat. But then we started laughing and getting to know each other. Then we stared having play dates. Now we’re two beautiful twelve year old girls, that hated each other but are now best friends. I ask her if she thought I cheated, then why she wanted to be my friend. She says because I had a mischievous side to me just like her! That day I think Both Cumbia and I learned a thing. I realize now that she showed me how she was an honest person by not wanting me to cheat. And I showed her that I did have a little devil side to me but I didn’t mean it in a bad way. I’m glad that I traced that square because if I wouldn’t have than I would have never gotten to become best friends with Cumbia!
